Bacterial Diversity
- Synopsis
- Shows the diversity of bacteria, with particular reference to their structure, metabolism and habitat. Examines the structure of a typical bacterium, and discusses variations, as well as the advantages of a small size. Looks at colony morphology, bacterial reproductive strategies and general variation in bacterial metabolism. Shows that bacteria are metabolically more versatile than other organisms, with many bacterial groups being able to switch from one energy source to another. Approximately two hours of teaching material.
