Backstrap Weaving: Traditional Weaving in Guatemala and Mexico

Synopsis
Shows backstrap weaving, a skill widely practiced in Guatemala and Mexico, where it is a common sight to see weavers sitting down to weave. Complex and colourful designs reflecting thousands of years of tradition and skill are still produced from a few sticks and balls of year. Contents include: warping up for four selvedges; weaving techniques, including warp-faced pick-up patterning and weft-faced brocading. Filmed entirely in Mexico and Guatemala.
