- Synopsis
- Conversations with the artist Tom Walker about ‘The Mystic Image’, his pictures inspired by the music of Charles Tournemire. Dr Alan Williams of Manchester University and Tom Walker discuss nine of the artist’s 51 triptychs celebrating ‘L’Orgue Mystique’, Tournemire’s great liturgical organ cycle and the corresponding sources which have inspired both composer and artist alike. Combining the organ playing of David Ollosson, details film of the pictures, rare archive photographs of the composer and contemporary colour photography of significant locations, the programme provides unique insights into the relationship between music and painting and a glimpse into the world of a remarkable composer.
