- Shows chemistry techniques involved in the Leaving Certificate chemistry syllabus and is designed to help pupils with their own practical work and also as a revision aid. Part 1 demonstrates the laboratory preparation of ethyne and ethanoic acid and the ‘cracking’ of liquid paraffin over steel wool. Part 2 looks at tests for various organic functional groups, the laboratory preparation of soap, the separation of substance by chromatography and the distillation of crude oil.
