- Synopsis
- A video-based training resource for teachers and teacher-trainers. In two parts: 1) Gillian duCharme, headteacher at Beneden, an exclusive public school, experiences an exhausting week as a supply teacher at Forest Gate Community School, an inner-city comprehensive in London; 2) Additional footage is used to examine a number of potentially unsettling teaching situation: walking into a classroom totally unprepared; working with a mexed-ability class; discovering how and when to use different styles of teaching; comparing the theory of teaching practice with the reality; working with a mix of cultures; establishing a role in leadership, motivation and discipline; dealing effectively with difficult situations; working with a different head teacher’s management style.
