O Dreamland
- Synopsis
- Shown in the first ‘Free Cinema’ programme, shows director Lindsay Anderson’s distaste for the noisy vulgarity of Margate’s Dreamland funfair. A critique is mounted through a careful montage of images and sound, revealing the shoddiness of the entertainment of the funfair, but the holiday-makers who happily pay for the entertainment are more ambivalently presented, apparently- exploited and consenting to that exploitation.
