Nuremberg on Trial

Synopsis
To mark the 50th aniversary of the end of the Nuremberg trials, Professor David Cesarani looks at the legacy of Nuremberg and asks whether the guiding principles set down at that time have been betrayed by contemporary justice. In the original Nuremberg courtroom, Joan Bakewell discusses issues of justice and vengeance with Bishop Desmond Tutu, Jacques Verges (the French lawyer who defended Klaus Barbie) and Professor Christian Tomuschat.
