Part 1: Advantages and disadvantages of analogue and binary representation-digital using decimal digits and digital using binary digits. Conversion from decimal and binary. Binary addition. Advantages and disadvantages of BCD.
Part 2: Representation of non-numeric characters, octal and hexadecimal and conversion to and from binary. Negative number representation and two’s complement form. Range of two’s complement form and representation of binary fractions.
Part 3: Representation, addition, range, storage and loss of accuracy in floating point. Excess representation. Addition of BCD numbers. Binary multiplication.
