Synopsis
An overview of research and theory on human communication on a non-verbal level, through gesture, body posture, intonation, eye contact and facial expression. Interviews Edward Hall on interpersonal distance, Michael Argyle on the equilibrium theory of eye contact, Robert Rosenthal on gender differences in the perception of non-verbal behaviour, Robert Akaret on gestures and expressions in photographs, and Eibl-Eibesfeldt on biological programmingof facial expression. Also discusses the Davis studies on paralinguistics.
