Next of Kin

Synopsis
The most powerful and realistic of all the ‘careless talk’ films. This feature film tells the story of a raid on a submarine pen on the North West coast of France. A well organised German spy ring, much aided by careless talk and amateurish security measures, assembles information on this supposedly secret operation. The enemy are thus forewarned and the raid is threatened with disaster. The film was shown to the troops in early March 1942, but was withdrawn by Churchill two weeks before the St Nazaire raid (28 Mar 1942). After the success of the raid it was re-issued in a slightly shortened version showing fewer British casualties.
