Away from the Workhouse
- Synopsis
- The care and treatment of patients in a long-stay hospital is often overshadowed by the image of institutionalisation. This is catalysed by the fact that many long-stay hospitals were originally designed in the last century as workhouses. The film depicts some of the ways in which a hospital can move away from this image. Patients and staff give their views on how the quality of life in a long-stay hospital may be improved.
