New Product Design and Development (2 Parts)

Synopsis
A recording of a lecture by Kevin Thompson, a design consultant, discussing the practicalities of product development: where the ideas come from and how they evolve into successful new products. Examples are shown of products designed with specific objectives in mind: human factors, product function, user interface, appearance, range extension, method of manufacture, and materials and branding.
Part 1 deals with product evolution: trigger ideas, product planning, design audio, concept design, design development and production design.
Part 2 looks at two successful new products: a video conferencing unit and a new cassette deck.
