Synopsis

An 8-video set introducing the basic concepts and principles of autonomous maintenance, part of total productive maintenance (TPM) - a team-based approach to maintenance activities. The goal is to prepare operators to do some equipment care independently of the maintenance staff. Shows the following American companies that have successfully introduced autonomous maintenance: IMC Chemicals, Sonoco, TI Automotive Group, Pella Corporation, Carriage Industries. The video set covers the 7-step process for implementing autonomous maintenance: initial cleaning and inspection; eliminating sources of contamination and inaccessible areas; lubrication and establishing provisional standards; training for general inspection; conducting general inspection; improving workplace management and control; moving forward with advanced improvement activities.
