Natural Parents and Foster Parents

Synopsis
What does it mean for parents to have their children compulsorily removed from their care? How do foster parents feel about providing a home for someone else’s children? How well do they relate to the natural parents? And how do they handle their attachment to the children while at the same time preparing them for return to their own family? What does it mean for children to be removed from a foster family for an indeterminate period? The social worker has to handle and reconcile needs of the parents (natural and foster) and children and develop a programme that takes into account these needs. Natural parents, foster parents and children discuss foster care from their own point of view and their social worker discusses her role in relation to them.
