N/Um Tchai: The Ceremonial Dance of the !kung Bushmen

Synopsis
The medicine dance is one activity in !Kung life that draws people together in groups that are not shaped by family, band, or close friendship. The dance is essentially a curing ritual but is not solemn; the !Kung take pleasure in music and dancing and enjoy the sociability of the occasion. The material for the film was shot in the 1950s.
