Myths About Madness
- Synopsis
- Training video looking at preconceptions about mental illness and people with mental health problems. Analyses the attitudes of the public, professionals, employers, journalists and family members and asks where these attitudes come from and what the reality is. People with mental health problems describe the impact of stigma and labels on their lives. Professionals talk about the sources of their own prejudices. Looks at how public fear and misunderstanding actually prevents community care from working, and examines initiatives taken by some individuals and groups to challenge stigma and discrimination around mental health.
