Mystery of Magritte, The

Synopsis

A stylised encyclopaedia the life and work of the Belgian surrealist artist René Magritte. Includes paintings; letters; sketches; interviews; examples of his Super-8 films; a biography; analysis of his techniques, theories and images; and details of his lesser known works including often unpublished advertisements, collages, sculptures and photographs. The interface is a circular fresco of the ‘Casino de Knokke-le-Zoute’ in QuickTime, which allows the discovery of the surrealist movement, the association of images, atmosphere, cultural complexity and socio-politics associated with the pre-post war.
