Multimodal Management of Breast Cancer

Synopsis
Follows a patient from diagnosis of breast cancer through to her discharge from hospital following a mastectomy. Looks at the treatments which have been available and describes the particular multimodal approach which is being researched at the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow. Puts forward the view that treatment must be tailored to the individual needs of the patient, and this includes personality and psychological needs as well as medical requirements. Such an approach requires the co-operation of an interdisciplinary group made up of surgeon, radiotherapist, social worker and nurse.
