Austenitic Cast Irons, The

Synopsis
Reviews briefly what austenitic irons are, notes the useful basic physical properties of the flake graphite types and shows the great improvements in mechanical properties now available, following upon the application to these irons of the process by which the graphite form is changed from flake to spheroidal. The applications shown, from Great Britain and overseas, demonstrate the resistance of these irons to the effects of corrosion, heat and very low temperatures, and show some of the many special properties which can be induced by simple variation of the composition.
