Synopsis
A compilation from the unique collection of the North West Film Archive containing films of the region. Starting on Blackpool seafront in 1899 and ending in the streets of Salford in 1969, coverage includes an advert for messages home from forces overseas and a celebration of post-war sport and entertainment. Includes a day in the life of a coal miner (1910), the use of Co-op textiles in the home (1930), building a motor car (1913), a small-town carnival (1923), the Manchester centenary celebrations (1946), Lancashire coastal resorts (1957) and the journey of what was thought to be Manchester’s last tram in 1949.
