Synopsis
Looks at the reasons why staff are or are not motivated, using four case studies: 1) a salesman complains about his pay, but emotional factors might be the core of the problem; 2) an good employee encounters problems that may be due to racial or sexual harrassment, or possibly a wrong fit; 3) an engineer without a desk is unable to convince the firm of the value of his ideas; 4) en employee’s mistakes following the installation of a new computer system could be caused by personal problems or the prospect of change at work.
