Synopsis
Shows the production of polyclonal antibodies and discusses the drawbacks of this technique. Shows the technique used to produce a culture of fused cells, illustrating cells being grown in tissue and being examined, the harvesting of cells, the two types of cell ready for fusion, A diagram gives an overview of the process. After cell fusion the method of identifying the hybrid cells is discussed and the production of clones from individual cells and their storage illustrated. Shows how specific monoclonal antibodies are identified, and the last two slides consider possible uses of the antibodies.
