Minecam Series
- Synopsis
- Video recordings made using the MineCam, a miniature colour video camera designed for lowering into underground cavities such as wells and mineshafts to allow remote exploration.
M1: Investigation of a well shaft at The Old Wind, Lightmoor, Telford on 12 November 1995. This narrow shaft appears to have been sunk to intersect a previously existing tunnel, which is built in the style of 18th century canal and tramroad tunnels.
M2: Discovery of an ice house at Leaton Knolls near Shrewsbury on 2 March 1996. A borehole sunk near a mysterious hold found a void; the Minecam revealed a forgotten brick-built ice house complex.
M3: Investigation of Ramsden Shaft, Bog Mine, 8 August 1992. Bog Mine was worked for lead from the 1730s until the 1880s. During World War 1 Sir James Ramsden reopened the mine, sinking the Ramsden Shaft in 1915.
M4: Investigation of Spring Vein shaft, Roman Gravels Mine, 20 June 1993. This large open shaft near to the Ladywell Mine is one of the few visible remains fo the large complex that formed Roman Gravels Lead Mine, last worked in the 1920s. - Language
