Synopsis: As a member, and later, director of the Bauhaus, Mies Van Der Rohe expounded the spirit of constructive inquiry and synthesis that characterised the institution. Discusses the German Pavilion for the Barcelona Exhibition of 1929 and modern masterpieces such as Lake Shore Drive Apartments, Chicago (1951), Seagram Building, New York (1958) and the Crown Hall built for IIT, Chicago in 1956.
