Microsurgical Operations on the Colorado Beetle. Part 1
- Synopsis
- Demonstrates the effect of removing the ‘corpora allata’ from the head of the Colorado Beetle. This operation, which is the central theme of the film, is performed without the aid of a micromanipulator. In addition, some aspects of normal beetle behaviour are shown under conditions of long and short day-lengths. The film ends with a demonstration of the effect of the operation on this behaviour. Intended both to demonstrate the technique involved and to show the effects of hormones on physiology and behaviour.
