MÉniÈre’s Disease: Objective Assessment of Surgical Treatment

Synopsis
Shows the principles of electrocochleography, a method of recording the electrical activity of the cochlea and first order eighth nerve fibres, in response to acoustic stimulation, and illustrates its use in diagnosis. Compares tracings of the normal sites with those found in acoustic neuroma and in syphilitic involvement of the inner ear. Presents the technique and interpretation of the results of electrocochleography with reference to Ménière’s disease and shows the surgical technique for incision of the endolymphatic sac of the middle ear.
