- True story of Germany’s news cameramen, The
- Synopsis
- Stories behind Third Reich newsreel footage, as told by Hitler’s personal cameraman, Walter Frentz, and other film makers working under the Nazi regime. Four hundred of the 1200 cameramen put into the field from 1939 to 1945 died, and those who survived were under constant surveillance by the Nazi party. Göbbels’own film chief, Fritz Hippler, tells how he was sentenced to death for defying policy in 1943, then sent to the Russian front as a private. His surviving photographs of Hitler and Eva Braun are shown here.
