Matrices (4 Parts)
- Synopsis
- Part 1 introduces matrices and their uses, demonstrated by the solution of simultaneous equations.
Part 2 looks at ‘row reduction’ and shows how ‘row reduction reveals all’.
Part 3 shows matrices as mathematical objects in their own right and how to multiply matrices together. Uses simultaneous equiations to introduce the operation.
Part 4 demonstrates the meaning of an ‘inverse’ in general terms before tackling the operation of inversion in matrices. Shows that most matrices do not invert, but if a matrix has an inverse it must first be possible to reduce it to an ‘identity matrix’. - Series
