Maragoli

Synopsis
Looks at attitudes and changes in an area of Kenya, which is experiencing one of the world’s fastest rates of population growth. Based on research by Joseph Ssennyonga as part of the ‘Cross cultural study of population growth and rural poverty’ conducted by Professor T Scarlett Epstein, the film presents both the ‘objective facts’ of population growth among the Maragoli as well as their ‘subjective perceptions’ by different socio-economic strata. It also explores the different solutions sought by the people themselves to cope with increasing numbers. *RAI
