Maner of Dauncynge, The

Synopsis
Illustrates English dances from the 16th to the early 18th century, and demonstrates the two basic steps - the simple and the double - and how they are used in a variety of dances. Aims to encourage viewers to interpret and perform the dances for themselves. Refers to works such as Arbeau’s ‘Orchesography’ and Playford’s ‘The English Dancing Master’ and presents many examples of dances with music on contemporary instruments.
