Managing Teacher Absence

Synopsis: A video- and computer-based resource pack designed to provide schools with a system for managing absence and the interview skills training, for governors, headteachers and senior teachers, essential for an effective absence management strategy. The first video demonstrates the need for such a strategy. The second contains skills training for four key types of interview - proactive intervention, managing the absence ‘event’, managing the return to work interview, managing the absence review meeting. The third video demonstrates how to use the computer disks for monitoring staff absence and prompting use of the above key interview. The computer disks provide the system for monitoring and prompting and a handbook summarises vifdeo 2 and provides further guidance on interview structure.
