Man Without Pigs
- Synopsis
- John Waiko is the first Papua New Guinean to reach the status of professor. He travelled back from Australia to his home village to celebrate his achievement with his own people of the Binandere clan. When John and his family decided to put on a dance drama to celebrate, they were met with challenge and scepticism. John has little knowledge of ritual and no customary wealth or list of favours and alliances. This provides a rare insight into the antagonism aroused when conflict between custom and western values occurs in an isolated community.
