Man with a Movie Camera
- Synopsis
- A montage of Moscow life showing the people of the city at work and at play, and the machines that keep the city going. Dziga Vertov used all the cinematic techniques at his disposal - dissolves, split screen, slow motion and freeze frames. The video contains two versions of the film: first the original silent version with a new musical score by the Alloy Orchestra. The film is then repeated, this time with a commentary by Russian silent cinema historian Yuri Tsivian.
The DVD contains only the silent version of the film, with a choice of three soundtracks to accompany the film: one composed and performed by the Alloy Orchestra; a new score from In the Nursery; a commentary by Yuri Tsivian.
Another DVD version is available entitled MICHAEL NYMAN’S MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA, with a musical score by Michael Nyman (BFIVD 538). - Language
