Synopsis
Describes in some detail the slow and complex forces which have been at work for thousands of years forming the soil, and shows the natural processes of soil building from bare rock and on a salt marsh. The influences of forest trees and the climatic and biological factors which affect soil conditions are studied, and a typical soil profile is used as illustration.
