Magnox Factor, The

Synopsis
Discusses the safety of British nuclear reactors. Argues that the bulk of Britain’s nuclear power stations, 18 Magnox reactors on nine sites around Britain, are deteriorating fast and pose considerable danger. Premature corrosion has meant that the reactors have never operated at full capacity. Assembles the evidence and then examines how the problem is being handled by the industry, the Health & Safety Executive and the Atomic Energy Authority. The programme makers were denied access to any UK Magnox reactors but were able to examine the UK supplied Magnox reactors in Latina, Italy.
