Macpee

Synopsis
Concentrates on illustrating those changes in haemodynamic function that are related to changes in the volume and distribution of the contents of the body’s fluid spaces, for example, of the baroreceptor reflex emphasis - the slow ‘resetting’ which can occur in blood pressure and which may result in abnormally high or low pressure being dynamically maintained. Allows students to perform physiological experiments, eg giving water loads, and to analyse clinical situations, such as the complex series of events that follow a renal leak of albumen or a large haemorrhage. In some measure it substitutes for animal experiments, which are difficult in this area to translate accurately to humans, and simulates human experiments which would, at least, be unethical.
