- To commenorate the centenary of the Lumière brothers’ first ‘motion picture’, David Lynch, Spike Lee, Wim Wenders, Zhang Yimou, John Boorman, Arthur Penn, Peter Greenaway, Claude LeLouch, Luis Costa Gavras, James Ivory and other international film-makers each created one-minute film using the restored 1985 Cinématographe camera.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Lumière Brothers first movie, 40 leading directors from around the world were invited to each produce a 50-second short film using a restored 1985 Cinématographie camera. Each director shot one continuous take, with no synchronised sound or artificial lighting. The shorts are interspersed with clips of the directors answering questions such as ‘why do you make films?' and ‘is cinema mortal?'. - Language
