Synopsis
Part 1 examines archaeological methods for finding sites in the countryside and towns without digging for them. Shows and explains techniques such as aerial photography, looking at documents, surveying earthworks and field walking.
Part 2 examines the work of archaeologists on two excavations: removing soil, uncovering features, recording, dealing with the finds, and drawing the evidence together to make interpretations. Looks at the excavation of an Anglo-Saxon village and at a rescue excavation in Worcester.
