Introductory material for carers and professionals who look after someone with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, looking at the psychological and practical elements of care such as extreme behaviour, suicide, returning to work and the effectis on family members. Discusses the prognosis, treatment and causes of schizophrenia and the process of care. Produced under the supervision of two consultant psychatrists, the video tells the stories of five carers and includes contributions from the professionals they consulted and from two of the people for whom they care.
