Livelihood from Waste, A

Alternative title
Trash is Cash
Synopsis
Looks at a recycling initiative in Mukuru, a slum on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, where a group of former scavengers have formed the Mukuru Recycling Centre. The scavengers collect waste, separate it, sell it to the private sector and produce white briquettes as charcoal and compost. Also shows how UNCHS (Habitat) has been able to support the centre with technical assistance and training.
