Lion’s den, The
- Synopsis
- Two programmes on an experiment to find out about the craft of teaching and whether keeping order in class is a natural or acquired skill. Three teachers at the same school allow cameras to observe their lessons with the same form of 14-year-olds over a term. One teacher is newly qualified, one has been teaching for seven years, and the third for 22 years. The first programme follows the teachers as they take lessons with the same class over the first four weeks of term, concentrating on the probationer, who is to be the form tutor of the class, a role for which he has received no training. In the second programme he reviews with performance with a former head, and together they address the issue of classroom management.
