Link-Up Diary
- Synopsis
- David MacDougall goes on the road with Link-Up, an organisation formed in 1980 to help Aboriginal people find their close relatives. The families were separated in earlier decades by the New South Wales government. Follows the reunification, after many years, of several families in Sydney during one week in 1986, revealing that being reunited with one’s family is only the first step in the journey. Then comes the difficult period in trying to come to terms with one’s new-found family, a new environment, and a new identity. Shows something of the impact this ordinance had upon the children themselves, their families and the Aboriginal history of the 20th century.
