Lines and Planes

Synopsis
Defines the line in terms of its vector equation. Introduces the dot product and cross product as operators and illustrates their geometrical significance, then move into three dimensions to discuss the vector equation of a plane. Develops systems of parametric equations for both lines and planes and gives several numerical examples, including the problem of finding the distance from a point to a line or plane and the equation of a line normal to a plane. Examines various ways in which planes may or may not intersect.
