Light on Lasers

Synopsis
Discusses the theory of lasers and their construction beginning with examples of the wide range of their applications. A He-Ne laser is used to explain how the high energy helium atoms in collision with neon atoms boost the latter into suitable excited states. A ruby rod laser is used in the explanations of the operation of pulsed lasers.
