Life of ‘Euglena’, The

Synopsis

Examines the following characteristics in various genera of ‘Euglena’: polymorphism; heterotrophic and autotrophic feeding of ‘E. gracilis’; movement; longitudinal binary fission; colouration by vital staining - neutral red shows vacuoles, nucleus, contractile vacuole, cresyl blue shows various structures; cysts - including palmelloid forms and excystation. Summarised by illustrating plant and animal characteristics.
