Life Begins Again
- Synopsis
- A threshing machine at work on a farm - Joe Green, one of the workers falls and breaks his arm. On a London street a man is knocked down by a car and taken to hospital with a broken leg. These are the kinds of cases which can be treated through therapy until a normal life can be led. Therapy for shock is described by hospital staff, and subsequent treatments including physical therapy are explained. Doctors discuss how patients can be rehabilitated into society after serious surgery. At country rehabilitation centres patients play games and exercise in order to build up their strength. Even patients with artifical limbs can return to work, and take up a useful career. This is an early example of medical filmmaking, showing rehabilitaiton in wartime Britain.
