Synopsis

Compares early method of batch distillation process with later electrolytic and vertical retort continuous processes. Modern automatic process makes use of a blast furnace for which the feed stock is pre-sintered. Oxides in ore are reduced to zinc and lead metals. High quality zinc is produced by vacuum dezincing.
