Let’s Go: A New Approach to Violin Class Teaching

Synopsis
Mary Goodman, a music teacher employed by Humberside Local Education Authority, demonstrates her approach to violin class teaching in a programme that follows the progress of a group of beginners, whose development up to their first examination is observed over a period of six months. Sixteen recorded lessons provided the source material for this programme, which is linked and explained by Graham Sadler of the Department of Music and which gives an overall view of Mary Goodman’s method. Although the recording is concerned with children in the 9 to 11 age range learning the violin, it contains much that may be of interest to anyone who has to teach an instrument to a group. A more detailed (and more repetitive) view of the method is available as LET’S Go! 1-8.
