Synopsis

Teacher appraisal in Somerset - a DES pilot scheme. Tape 1 illustrates teacher review in a primary school. Tape 2 illustrates teacher review in a secondary school. The process involves two other heads, who collect information from a wide range of sources including teaching staff, governors and parents. Tape 4 illustrates the review of heads of both a middle and comprehensive school.
