Short video ‘vox pop’ interviews conducted in late 1985 with full and part-time postgraduate, degree and diploma level students on both academic and professional courses at Bristol Polytechnic. In four parts: 1) Lectures: things that go wrong in lectures; what students do in lectures; tips for teachers; 2) Workload: lectures and seminars; written work; private study; contact hours; syllabus pressure; negotiating with students; student self-help; 3) Learning Styles: reading, remembering; 4) Motivation: intrinsic; extrinsic; success and failure; achieving personal satisfaction; overcoming obstacles to achievement.
